El Skate Mafioso: A conversation with Wes Kremer

Interview By Berto for FRANK151

Known this cat for a minute. Pacific Drive days.
Wes would always have new tricks or clips goin. Dude is so naturally gifted it’s ridiculous. Super low key. Always chillin. Not a lot of talk when it comes to the session. He wants to get it. And to him, nothing is more important than TO GET IT.

A true skate rat. Wherever. Whenever. Whoever’s down — he’s down. He just wants to skate. That’s his bottom line.

We posted up at PQ Park to see what he had to say.
This is how it went down.

Frank151: Yo Wes! What’s good?

Wes Kremer: Life. Sunshine. All of the above.

Frank151: First off, I gotta ask you — yo… what’s a hemmie?

Wes Kremer: A hemmie could be a car part… or a close friend.

Frank151: Who’s takin care of Wes these days?

Wes Kremer: My parents.

Frank151: Sponsors?

Wes Kremer: My parents, Skate Mafia, and Independent.

Frank151: Speakin of Skate Mafia — these days it seems like loyalty runs pretty thin, both ways. Skaters switchin sponsors all the time. But you’ve been with Mafia a mad minute. Respect. What’s the relationship like with Dan and the boys?

Wes Kremer: We don’t say Skate Mafia for Life for nothin. Family.

Frank151: Is stackin clips your preferred approach — or is it more what happens, happens?

Wes Kremer: Absolutely not. Just go out and skate. Get some sidewalk cracks. Push down the street. Fire it up.

Frank151: You don’t have an IG. How can people get in touch with you?

Wes Kremer: You know where to find me. (smiles)

Frank151: You were recently in Nicaragua. How’d that go?

Wes Kremer: Amazing. My friends out there. The locals. People are beautiful in Central America. Really good times — definitely a lot of Caña de Flor. Nothin but Buenos Momentos.
But yeah… sacked a rail and did a nice lil front flip.

Frank151: When you’re workin on tricks, what’s your process?

Wes Kremer: Warm up… then see where that goes.

Frank151: Any shout outs?

Wes Kremer: Shout out to everyone. Skate Mafia for Life. People of the world. Skaters of the world. Yeah… and the streets.

Frank151: Any last words?

Wes Kremer: SURVIVAL! (laughter)
And thank you for contributing to the skateboarding culture.

So there you go. Wes is a man of few words — lets his skating do all the talkin. He’s always down to chop it up with the hemmies. His crew has his back. Skate Mafia since day one. From street to vert, he gets his. I’ve seen him skate pools — crazy good.

Yeah… he’s the homie.
Gracias, mano.
