Jay-Z is hoping to reach new heights in his career, as Roc Nation is a top competitor for New York’s new gaming license, he plans to open a casino in Times Square.
Late last week, Roc Nation took to Twitter to post an open letter explaining their plans for creating the casino in the Manhattan hub and their plans to give back to the community of NYC. The letter starts with discussing the gaming license situation in New York, saying that “a bill was passed in the state legislature confirming” the state will receive the license, “The question is: which applicant will get the license?”
They go on to speak directly to the community explaining that Roc Nation is the best option for the city of New York to gain the license. The letter states that “The winning licensee must always put the well-being of New Yorkers at the top of their agenda and do right by its residents. This is too important of a moment in our city’s illustrious history. Times Square, the epicenter of entertainment with a palpable energy, is unmatched. Roc Nation and our partners are here to ensure Times Square remains connected to all facets of culture. There’s no better location for a Caesars Palace entertainment destination than the Crossroads of the World.”
Roc Nation goes on to explain why they are the best choice for New York & New Yorkers alike, with multiple plans to “enhance the lives of everyday New Yorkers.” They plan to improve the environment surrounding them by investing in their fellow businesses, and investing in sanitation and security throughout the city into Hell’s Kitchen.
The proposal for Caesar’s Palace Times Square includes a $1 billion initial investment, plus more for additional fees. Roc Nation and SL Green Realty Corporation have partnered together with Caesars Entertainment to put forward the money necessary to be in the running for the gambling license. The decision of who will receive New York’s new gaming license will not be announced until later this year, but Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has certainly made an impression.
