Last month, Nike acquired computer vision company Invertex in a continuous effort to boost its digital capabilities. Calling it a “truly perfect fit” Nike introduced the fit scanning technology based off of the statistic that more than 60 percent of people are wearing the wrong shoe size.
You can access the fit sizing technology through the Nike app which uses a mix of artificial intelligence, computer vision, data science and various algorithms. Using your phones camera, you will be able scan your feet by collecting 13 data points that maps each foot’s morphology. The process is completed in a “matter of seconds,” resulting in a “best fit for you” recommendation that is based off the shoe being purchased.
Customers will also see this technology come to life in stores while theys hop in person.
