What someone drives says a lot about them — their interests, aesthetics and priorities in life.
In an effort to learn more about our favorite surfers and how they traverse the globe (or at least their home continent), we’ve gone ahead and resurrected Ferrari Boyz, one of our beloved series of old.
Ferrari Boyz started nine years ago when Taj Burrow gave us a tour of his old Land Cruiser (coincidentally the same car as Haz). “Everyone in West Oz has a Landy,” said Taj back then.
After Taj, we sussed the autos of Noa Deane, Mitch Crews, Soli Bailey, Creed McTaggart, Alex Knost, Chippa Wilson, Jay Davies, and yes, a 19-year-old Harry Bryant who misspoke in the episode and said his car could tow “3,000 tons” (the weight of an average U.S. Navy frigate) instead of three tons.
Our audience has been asking for more day-in-the-life type projects for some time. For example, last month when we released a mini-documentary about Dane Reynolds and Chapter 11 TV, one Stab Premium Member commented, “Stab you should do more cruisy clips like this one, just hanging out with different crew on the day-to-day.” Our revival of Ferrari Boyz is an effort to do just that. The cars are fun, yes, but they are really just an excuse to get a more relaxed portrait of some of the most exciting figures in surf culture today (as well as sneak in a surf with them).
This season of Ferrari Boyz was created by our friend/former full-time Stab employee/Skegss rockstar Toby Cregan. You can always sniff out a Toby vid — he has the kind of cache and rapport with these surfers to disarm them and get them at their most normal, which makes the rest of us feel like we’re sitting passenger princess (Gen-Z for “shotgun”) next to the surfers we adore.
