The BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival is back this summer with its free outdoor concert series in NYC. For over 40 years the festival has been presenting global music icons, jazz legends, chart-topping indie bands, dance troupes, large-scale films and VR performances, making it a beloved Brooklyn summer tradition.
This year, BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival will also be accessible as a virtual multi-platform destination, so you can watch the outdoor concert series from your home. Scheduled performances at the Prospect Park Bandshell include: Skip Marley, Busta Rhymes, DJ Stretch Armstrong, Junglepussy, Nigerian afropop artist Yemi Alade, Mexican alternative folk singer Lila Downs, actress and activist Angelique Kidjo, Caribbean soca group KES, Yaeji, San Fermin, and more.
From its first performance in the summer of 1979, the mission of the Festival has been to bring Brooklyn together and showcase the vibrant cultures that make the borough so unique. It’s important now more than ever (after the last year and a half we’ve had) to reaffirm the basis of what Brooklyn and America is—a welcoming, supercollider of ideas and cultures, informing and enriching each other.
