Exploring Manchester’s Emerging Creative Scene | Michelin Star Dining, Studio Visits, & Golfing

Hypebeast joined photographer and golf fan Tyler Joe over the summer for his first experience at LIV Golf. But, like many others traveling from overseas, Joe extended his trip in the north of England, making a pit stop in Manchester to spend a few days exploring its iconic cultural landscape.

From dining at streetside eateries to visiting independent fashion boutiques, the excursion led the photographer to meet some of the city’s most influential creative forces. Local Space founder and tastemaker Ste Wing was among those he encountered along the way. Having lived in Manchester his entire life, he’s come to embody the proud yet friendly attitude of the city, remarking it as “the most bubbling city in the UK.” British artist Richard Dean Hughes shared the sentiment.

When visiting his studio, Joe noticed how the liveliness of Manchester was not only instilled in the artist but also in his sculptures, too. “My work is fundamentally about reinventing historic objects,” he says, revealing the harsh metals and carved surfaces inspired by the surrounding architecture. As he delves headfirst into Manchester culture, Tyler Joe documents his trip in a new Travel Series episode with Hypebeast.
