A Legacy of Advocacy and Activism

On August 24, Green Label Rx proudly opened its first retail location in Canoga Park, marking a significant milestone in Jason McKnight’s 25-year journey as a legacy operator and social equity license holder. McKnight and his wife, Kelly, have long been champions of the cannabis community, fighting for the rights of those impacted by unjust laws. Their new storefront symbolizes their commitment to quality, sustainability, and social responsibility, offering a curated selection of premium cannabis products.

The grand opening was not just about business; it was a celebration of resilience and community. The McKnights shared the day in support of its affiliates as vendors set up shop outside the new location to introduce attendees to their brands. Brands included: Cake, RNBW, PUSH (Puff Until Something Happens), apparel brand –Real Recognize Real, advocacy brand –40 Tons, cannabis infused candy –Kanha, Stiiizy, Zabores, Richie Rich, world famous tacos –Tacos Way and baseball-themed cannabis brand Sluggerz

In addition, local official Jill Kline, representing the Los Angeles City Council’s 3rd District, honored the McKnights with an honorary certificate, recognizing their contribution to Canoga Park. The event was filled with live music, food, brand activations, and a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the brand’s deep-rooted community ties.

Championing Social Equity in Cannabis

Green Label Rx is more than a business; it’s a mission-driven company dedicated to equitable ownership and employment within the cannabis industry. As the premier social equity license-to-license provider in California, Green Label Rx opens doors for others, offering opportunities to those who have been historically excluded from the cannabis market. This commitment is embodied by their new Canoga Park location at 20924 Vanowen Street, which serves as both a retail space and a community hub for cannabis education and advocacy.

From Conviction to Change

Jason McKnight’s story is one of resilience. “Five years ago, I was convicted for selling cannabis and was facing a five-year sentence,” he reflects. “Yet, here I am today doing exactly what I said I would do.” His journey from facing legal battles to becoming a leading cannabis advocate is a testament to his dedication to creating a more just and inclusive industry.

With partners like Michael Asseraf, a fellow social equity license holder, Green Label Rx continues to push boundaries, advocating for a cannabis industry that prioritizes justice, sustainability, and positive community impact. Their work doesn’t just stop at the dispensary door; it extends into creating a better tomorrow for all.
