With the collaboration of Stüssy and Nike announced in August, fans and customers have been patiently awaiting the Air Flight 89s return; yesterday, Stüssy and Nike finally announced the Air Flight 89s release date of December 8th.
Stüssy and Nike are no strangers to each other, having a partnership that has lasted for over 20 years. This revamp of the Air Flight 89s is the product of Stüssy’s collaboration with Nike Vandal High and a chance to honor the 35th anniversary of the sneakers, which were inspired by Air Jordan 4s.
The sneakers will be available in 3 different color ways, including white and habanero red, black and white, or white and pecan. All of the color ways will include faux snakeskin accents along with both brand logos.
The shoes will sport the classic Nike swoosh in the middle with Nike logos on the bottom of the sole and the back of the heel. Stüssy’s “SS” branding will sit on the front of the shoes near the beginning of the laces, along with a co-branded embroidery saying “Air Stüssy” on the tongue.
The soles of the shoe are inspired by the Air Jordan 4, with visible air pockets there for extra support and comfort. The Stüssy x Nike Air Flight 89s will also allegedly be packaged with exclusive co-branded boxes.
The new Air Flight 89s will be priced at $160 and will be available to purchase exclusively on Stüssy’s website and at select Dover Street Market stores in just a few weeks on December 8th.
