After quite a long wait, Travis Scott has finally released his his highly-anticipated fourth studio album, Utopia.
Fans have been waiting on the album since Astroworld came out in 2018. He began teasing the album in 2020, but after the Astroworld Festival incident in 2021, it seemed to have been put on pause. Scott continued to tease fans about the album throughout the week of its release. He has been posting new album art to Instagram all week as well as continuing to promote the accompanying film, Circus Maximus.
Travis Scott has mentioned multiple times that his goal with Utopia is to bring a new sound to his fans, one that he has described as “psychedelic rock.” The rap star seems to have outdone himself on this latest album, with numerous guest features and a successful new sound it is clear that Scott has worked tirelessly to perfect the project.
The album holds 19 different tracks and runs for nearly an hour and fifteen minutes. Guest features include top artists like Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Swae Lee, Bad Bunny and 21 Savage, Playboi Carti and Sheck Wes, and James Blake and Westside Gunn. In order to achieve the multidimensional levels of sound that he wanted, Scott also collaborated with multiple very different producers to create Utopia. From Justin Vernon from Bon Iver to Metro Boomin, Scott went above and beyond to elevate Utopia to a new level. Other producers involved in Utopia include WondaGurl, Boi-1da, Weezy, Pharrell and many more.
