The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are coming up and with great anticipation of this being the first Olympic games to host the sport of Skateboarding, USA has finally announced its team. Both men’s and women’s teams feature eight boarders with four competing in street and four competing in park.
Qualification for the Olympics will happen over the next year and riders will have the chance to qualify based on their top three results in World Skate sanctioned events during the 2019 season and their top six results in the 2020 season. Those who secure top three podium spots at the 2020 World Championships will earn automatic qualification for their event. Although any skateboarder can qualify for the Olympics on their own, those who are part of the US National Team with receive support and resources from USA Skateboarding.
