According to recent reports, Spotify is looking to launch a new “Supremium” subscription to the platform; the new subscription tier will offer 24-bit lossless audio, AI playlist generation tools, and more for $19.99/month.
Tech guru Chris Messina seems to believe he has found something in the streaming platform’s code on the app. Upon finding something that seemed out of place, Messina dug a little deeper to discover the name of the new subscription tier, the logo, as well as updated features. The “supremium” subscription looks like it is set to include the lossless audio and AI playlist generation along with advanced mixing tools that will be personalized to each user based on BPMs, mood and genre. The new subscription tier will also feature 20-30 hours of audiobook listening and improved listening statistics.
So far, Spotify has not confirmed or denied the reports of this new subscription tier. A Spotify representative told the press: “At Spotify, we are constantly iterating and ideating to improve our product offering and offer value to users. But we don’t comment on speculation around possible new features and do not have anything new to share at this time.”
So, although the new “Supremium” subscription may very well be in the works, it does not seem like Spotify is rushing to push it to market.
