On night two of Paramore’s concerts at Madison Square Garden, singer Hayley Williams invited Lil Uzi Vert up on stage to sing alongside her for hit song, “Misery Business.”
It is commonplace for the rock band to have fans sing along to the bridges of their most popular songs, but it is not super common to have a rap artist perform with them. After Uzi sang the first bridge on his own, with some help from the crowd, Williams took a moment to thank him. She said, “Hey Uzi, we’ve been talking for a minute, but this is the first time we’ve met in person. I love you. You said too many nice things about me. You are so sweet to me and to Paramore.”
Uzi has talked about how much he loves Paramore and Hayley Williams many times. In 2017, Uzi even spoke with Zane Lowe from Apple Music 1 about Williams. He told Lowe, “She’s like the best. It’s hard to top that. She’s like the best, just of my generation, there’s nobody bro.”
A few years ago, Williams admitted that she has turned down the opportunity to collaborate with Uzi simply due to timing. Williams had planned to take a break from the spotlight and told Uzi, “Buddy, I love you so much, but I don’t want to be that famous. . . Bro, I just need to disappear. I don’t want to be that kind of a famous person.” At the time, Paramore had planned a break and Williams was struggling with personal issues and the timing just didn’t work out.
Now Uzi and Williams finally had their collaboration moment on stage at Madison Square Garden. After Uzi performed his part of the song, he and Williams continued to jam on stage to the instrumental solos and final chorus of the song.
