Last night the release of Nas’s birthday drop of ‘Magic 3,’ fans made an exciting discovery upon finding Lil Wayne as the only artist to be featured in the album with the track “Never Die.”
‘Magic 3’ only just released last night at midnight, as the clock struck Nas’s 50th birthday. As fans and fellow artists got to check out the album, it was quickly evident that Lil Wayne was the only featured artist included on the album. Fans and artists seem to agree that this was a good choice by Nas, as they both prove their icon status in the new collaboration, rapping over Hit- Boy’s vibey beats.
This is not the first time the power duo have worked together. “Never Die” is Nas & Lil Wayne’s fifth project together, after collaborating on Rich Boy’s “Ghetto Rich (Remix),” Nas and Damian Marley’s “My Generation,” Lil Wayne’s Outro on ‘The Carter IV, and finally on Busta
Rhymes’ “Don’t Touch Me (Remix)” in 2021. The two have credited each other over the years as top artists, with Nas even referring to Wayne as one of his top 5 “new generation” rappers in an interview.
“Never Die” seems to be gaining popularity already, with multiple rap artists and fans bringing the hype to social media. LA rapper, Problem, posted a tweet after listening to the song that
said: “Lil Wayne went crazy on this Nas/Hitboy album.🔥 🔥 ” Other fans also took to Twitter to share their excitement, one saying “Nas & Lil Wayne both snapped on this. Love seeing two legends come together and deliver great music.” The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish posted saying: “Wayne over cooked that verse for Nas. Me and @SirMichaelRocks trying to figure out if there has been a better guest verse.” More fans even went as far as to compare Nas and Wayne to Kobe Bryant and Shaq in their prime Lakers days.
