Mahmut Orhan at Gin Ling Way: LA’s Hidden Rave Gem

Mahmut Orhan, the Turkish DJ-producer who’s become a global force in melodic dance music, turned the historic alleys of LA’s  Chinatown into a hypnotic dream last weekend. Playing an intimate open-air set at Gin Ling Way, Orhan delivered an experience that blurred borders—geographical and emotional—while red lanterns floated above and crowd-bought confetti fireworks erupted guerrilla-style into the night sky.

Fresh off his Coachella debut at the genre-bending Do LaB stage, Orhan brought that same nomadic energy to this 1,500-capacity LA street party. With his signature fusion of deep house, melodic techno, and traditional Eastern instrumentation, the Istanbul-born producer took the crowd on a journey—layering hypnotic rhythms into dancefloor crescendos. His massive hits like “Feel” and his moody “Game of Thrones” remix received roars from the crowd, but it was his ability to weave unfamiliar melodies into the familiar thump that left the most lasting imprint.

The night’s magic wasn’t just about Orhan—it was also a showcase of what Framework does best. The LA-based collective has spent the last few years redefining what a dance event can be, creating parties that feel more like art-house cinema than club nights. Their events consistently blur the line between high-fashion minimalism and raw underground energy, offering a stage for both emerging and global talent to shine.

After the main event wrapped, the energy spilled over to a thumping afterparty at Sound Nightclub, where Orhan played a deeper follow-up set to a crowd that clearly didn’t want the night to end. Mahmut Orhan didn’t just play a set—he conjured a borderless, beat-driven utopia. And for one surreal night in LA, Gin Ling Way became a place where strangers danced like they’d known each other forever.

…And with upcoming Framework shows on the horizon—like Purple Disco Machine at the Shrine Expo Hall, Chris Stussy at the Expo Lawn and the Solid Grooves event at a location yet to be announced, while Flight Facilities set to return to Gin Ling Way. The LA based promotor continues to prove that the venue is as much a headliner as the artist. With their uncanny ability to reimagine space and energy, Framework isn’t just booking shows—they’re building cultural memories, one dancefloor at a time.
