Lovers & Friends Festival – Usher Brings 90’s Nostalgia to Las Vegas Nevada
In the past few years, pop culture of the 1990’s & early 2000’s have become a popular trend. From baggy jeans to the House Party reboot, what better way to indulge in such nostalgia but to attend a music festival that caters to the R&B of those times.

Lovers & Friends was co-founded by Usher and is a music festival held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Though his 2004 collaboration with Lil John & Ludacris is of the same name “Lovers and Friends,” Usher stated that the festival is not about him and proved a valid point about the sentimentality of the festival’s genres in music saying, “R&B is just as relevant as all of the other festivals that are out there that are more prominent and kinda mix all different genres of music.” There’s no denying that R&B is just as beloved now as it was back in the day and that the genre of R&B can stand alone as a festival on its own.

The festival brought together a wide range of ages where the early part of the festival began with young adults in attendance. Slowly the crowd transitioned to mid-age adults with their teenage kids and/or grandchildren who made their way to the festival mid-day mostly to catch the headliners. It wasn’t because the early artists weren’t good, but the one thing about festivals is a full day at a music festival can drain energy quick which in part might be the reason why the young adults that arrived early to the festival, also left early before even seeing the last performances. No matter what the age was of the attendee, everyone sang along with every artist because every artist had a hit that every real R&B fan knows. The festival wasn’t just for lovers or for friends, it was a place where families could bond over music. It’s music that anyone at any age could love. Excluding Ginuwine’s “Pony” because no one wants to hear or sing that song around their relatives.
