Last night, Lil Yachty and J. Cole blessed their fans with a surprise release of a new collaborative single, “THE SECRET RECIPE.”
“THE SECRET RECIPE” gives fans a peek into the minds of both Yachty and Cole as they poetically discuss their experience in the rap game, from their frustrations to their influence on the rap culture, the duo talk about it all. The hard-hitting bars pair perfectly with the smooth jazz beat in the background that keeps listeners bopping along.
The new release came with a music video to accompany it, showing Lil Yachty and J. Cole performing the track in a small live setting. The intimate venue in the video serves almost as a message to fans and viewers, to take a closer listen and truly focus on the lyrics within the track. The jazz-club-like setting is faded in the background with spotlights on both Yachty and Cole as they perform their verses.
“THE SECRET RECIPE” has surprised fans just one week into Lil Yachty’s The Field Trip Tour and begs the question of whether or not audiences should be hopeful for a J. Cole guest appearance. The Field Trip Tour just began this September after the release of Yachty’s latest album, ‘Let’s Start Here,’ this past January.
J. Cole, on the other hand, has not released an album since 2021 with ‘The Off-Season,’ but has been keeping himself busy with collaborative projects. From “All My Life” with Lil Durk, to “Passport Bros” with Bas and now “THE SECRET RECIPE” with Lil Yachty, J. Cole has not been taking time off.
