Lil Wayne, headliner for day 1 of Metro Metro in Montreal, arrived at the festival at 10:45 PM with only 15 minutes to perform before the city curfew at 11:00 PM.
The Montreal based music festival Metro Metro had high expectations to meet to follow up last years headliner performance of Drake and Lil Baby. This year, headliners included Lil Wayne, Jack Harlow, and Lil Baby. Booking Lil Wayne insured the hype behind the festival remained, and fans would be excited to see another big name headlining the weekend.
Lil Wayne’s set was slotted to occur from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM to close out day 1 of Metro Metro. However Wayne didn’t arrive until 10:45 PM, leaving him with just 15 minutes of performance time before the festival was required to turn their microphones, speakers, and lights off.
During his very shortened set, Lil Wayne performed bits and pieces of a few popular songs. He managed to fit in verses from “Mr. Carter,” “Mona Lisa,” “Uproar,” “Blunt Blowin,” and “6 Foot 7 Foot” before his mic got shut off.
There has been no explanation given for why Wayne was so delayed, simply an apology issued from Metro Metro about the situation. Metro Metro posted a story to social media saying, “We apologize for Lil Wayne’s abbreviated performance. He arrived at the festival at 10:45 and curfew is at 11.”
