Jeremy Renner’s Incredible Road to Recovery

Since his snow plough accident on New Year’s Day this January, Jeremy Renner has suffered many injuries, endured multiple surgeries, and undergone countless hours of rehabilitation and therapy – but he is on the way to making a full recovery. The accident occurred while Renner was trying to assist a neighbor whose car was snowed in. The breaks on the snow plough gave out, leaving the machine to roll towards Renner’s nephew. In an instant, Renner jumped in to move his nephew out of harm’s way but ended up trapped under the giant piece of machinery himself.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition with over 30 broken bones, a punctured lung, and blunt chest trauma. Renner has managed to keep a positive outlook on his situation and “chose to survive.” His most recent rehabilitation tactic has been his use of an anti-gravity treadmill which allows the actor to walk with only a percentage of his body weight, and train with low impact to continue recovery.

Renner posted a video of himself using the treadmill on social media last month. The anti- gravity treadmill is one of the newest technological advances in rehabilitation; the machine utilizes gravitational forces to lower the pressure placed on your joints from your own body weight. With the use of this technology, Renner will have a lower risk of re-injury and is in a good position to make his to a miraculous full recovery.

His first interview since the accident was with Diane Sawyer this Thursday where he spoke in depth about his experience, “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium.”
