Growing 90s & 2000s Strains: Why Old School Strains Are Better

Growing 90s & 2000s Kush strains! In this video, we are throwing it back to the classics with a complete seed to harvest grow of two legendary, heavy-hitting indica genetics: the iconic BC Afghani Kush (90s landrace-dominant legend) and Tom Ford Rockstar (the premium mid-2000s gassy strain).

Both of these old school cannabis strains were grown in my compact 2×4 closet tent setup using Coco Coir and the Autopot system, hitting a full seed to harvest cycle in exactly 90 days. We take a deep dive into how these vintage genetics grow under modern LED lights, their unique terpene profiles, and why they deliver a completely different physical buzz than today’s hyper-crossed hybrids.

We’re tackling the ultimate grower debate: Why is old school cannabis better? Have we lost the complex, functional highs, full-bodied flavors, and heavy medicinal effects in today’s race for pure THC percentages? Or do modern dessert hybrids actually have something on these vintage landrace crosses?
