For years, visiting Madlane was a bucket-list mission. Tucked away in the mountains of Okayama, Kazuki Ohashi’s workshop has become known for its obsessive approach to automotive design, where Japanese precision meets a distinctly European sense of style.
After having Kazuki’s slammed Ferrari Testarossa sitting on a lock screen for years, finally stepping inside Madlane felt like walking into automotive folklore. The workshop is less traditional tuning garage and more creative laboratory, filled with meticulously built machines and the kind of details that reward a second, third and fourth look.
The trip wasn’t all about cars, either. Between exploring Madlane’s world, there was time to slow things down on Naoshima, the Japanese island famous for its contemporary art, galleries and installations.
Captured during a January trip to Japan, this short film finally opens the doors on one of the country’s most intriguing automotive spaces — and gives a glimpse into the people, places and obsessive attention to detail behind Madlane.
