Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia, just got a new home for fearless creativity.
Gallery Brave — the freshly minted art space on Elizabeth Street — opens its doors with a bang this Thursday, November 13, hosting Among The Brave, a group show celebrating boldness, courage, and the raw nerve it takes to create something real in 2025.
Co-curated by @ladyjwullf_, @todaythebrave, and @edbert_wahjudi, and backed by @bentspokebeer and @eljimador_au, the exhibition brings together thirty of Sydney’s most daring contemporary artists, each exploring their own definition of bravery — whether it’s transforming trauma into texture, turning doubt into color, or just showing up and creating despite it all.

For one artist, the show hits especially close to home. His piece, Only the Brave Survive, is a hand-painted acrylic on wooden panel (50cm x 40cm), finished with satin varnish and priced at $600. It’s not just another painting — it’s a reflection of his personal journey through art, life, and the chaos that connects them.
That sentiment captures the spirit of the entire show. Among The Brave isn’t about perfection or polish — it’s about courage. It’s about the artists who dare to take a swing, who pull emotion straight from the gut and put it on the wall for strangers to dissect. As the curators put it:
“Bravery is not distant. It lives here, among us.”

Expect a lineup of work that ranges from vivid expressionism to bold contemporary pop, from abstract chaos to quiet introspection — all tied together by one common thread: guts.
