Framework Brings Summer Fun with Flight Facilities Show

Not being the biggest party-goer or the most social person, it always feels a little strange to write about shows and nightlife. But loving pop culture means you can’t ignore the magnetic pull of an act like Flight Facilities and there’s no denying that at times, I just want to go out and dance the night away. Especially when there’s a Framework-curated show in one of Los Angeles’ most unique spots: Gin Ling Way in Chinatown.

Gin Ling Way is unlike any other venue. Its neon lights, ornate Chinatown architecture, and tucked-away shops create an atmosphere that’s both intimate and lively. Whether you’re there for a full-on night of dancing or just looking for a mellow but fun time, the space strikes the perfect balance. One of the quirks that makes it even better? Shops open around the dance floor—so if you regret what you left the house wearing, you can snag something festive and jump right back into the groove.

Framework’s Signature Energy with Flight Facilities Center Stage

I’ll admit—going out isn’t usually my thing. Pajamas are usually my outfit of choice. But Framework has a way of changing my mind every single time. Their events never disappoint: good vibes, good times, and good people always fill the space. Framework has built a reputation for bringing world-class house and techno acts from LA to all over the world, and their annual Summer Calendar proves it. This summer’s lineup has featured Chris Stussy, Purple Disco Machine, Hot Since 82, and of course Flight Facilities, with the finale set for September 6 when Sammy Virji takes over the Rio Vista Lot at The Historic Sears Building.

The August 9 show at Gin Ling Way was something special with opening acts from Stacy Christine and Jasper Tygner. Although James Lyell was absent, Hugo Gruzman kept the energy alive behind the decks with a perfectly groovy set. The real cherry on top was Owl Eyes (Brooke Addamo), who brought soaring live vocals throughout the night. Her performance elevated the already vibrant DJ set, making tracks like Crave You, Run, Trouble, and Dancing On My Own even more electric.

Known for timeless originals and coveted IDs, Flight Facilities have mastered the art of extended sets, weaving together bootlegs, edits, anthems, and underground classics. The duo’s chemistry with Owl Eyes has been proven before—most memorably during their Coachella 2024 performance—and it was on full display again in Chinatown.

From Sydney to Los Angeles and a Chinatown Night to Remember

Flight Facilities’ story began in 2009 in the Sydney club scene. Their breakout hit Crave You quickly became a global summer anthem, and since then, they’ve released a steady stream of beloved tracks, including their 2014 debut Down to Earth and their long-awaited 2021 sophomore album Forever. Along the way, they’ve collaborated with legends like Reggie Watts, Channel Tres, DRAMA, Broods, and even tapped into disco-house culture through Glitterbox with Dancing on my Own.

Framework’s production seamlessly integrated into Gin Ling Way’s architecture, with visuals projected against surrounding buildings and music echoing through the historic venue. It felt less like a concert and more like a community celebration. The crowd danced, sang, and lived fully in the moment—reminded that sometimes, it’s worth leaving the house for a night you’ll never forget.

And that’s exactly what Flight Facilities and Framework delivered: an immersive experience that blurred the lines between electronic music and live performance, nostalgia and discovery, personal comfort and collective joy.

For me? Even if going out isn’t my default, I’ll always make an exception for Flight Facilities—or anything Framework puts their name on.
