Disney released the first official still look at the new live-action ‘Snow White,’ showing Rachel Zegler in her new role as Snow White smiling down at her 7 new trusty CGI dwarves, despite the film not hitting theaters until 2025.
The new live-action ‘Snow White’ film was originally set to release March 22nd of 2024. Unfortunately, the release date had to be pushed back significantly because of the long-lasting SAG-AFTRA strikes. With the labor strikes finally coming to a conclusion, the release date has been delayed just under a full year with the film now debuting on March 21st, 2025.
Despite the delays, Disney is still keeping their fans intrigued with their first still look at the movie. The image released gave fans their first full look of the CGI dwarves as they sit around Rachel Zegler in their cozy little cottage. This version of the film will allegedly take a slightly different approach to the original ‘Snow White’ storyline. According to Variety, instead of focusing on the romance aspect of the story, the new film will focus more heavily on “Snow White [as she becomes] the leader her father encouraged her to be.”
Following her roles in ‘West Side Story,’ ‘Shazam: Fury of the Gods’ and ‘The Hunger Games: the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,’ Zegler will be the first Latina to play Snow White. The Evil Queen will be played by Gal Gadot, while the Huntsman will be Ansu Kabia. To go along with the slightly revamped story, a new character – Jonathan, played by Andrew Burnap, will be introduced to the audience.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates regarding the new live-action ‘Snow White.’
