As yesterday marked the 1-year anniversary of Takeoff’s untimely death, Quavo & Offset joined the many mourners, sharing photos and videos of their fellow Migo in honor of a life gone too soon.
Last November 1st, Takeoff was involved in what police called a “lucrative dice game” outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston, TX when the violence began. Someone involved in the game began shooting, causing many of the dice players to brandish their weapons as well. Takeoff is not believed to have been an instigator in the violence, but rather an innocent bystander.
Quavo took to Instagram to share a black-and-white portrait of his nephew, Takeoff, with a simple caption as a memorial. Quavo wrote: “Can’t forget it won’t Forget It NEVER Forget it 🚀 ♾ I Remember!”
Offset decided to honor his friend’s memory with a video. Posted to Instagram as well, Offset shared a compilation of clips showing the Migos rappers performing and having fun together. In the caption, Offset said: “The times we spent is priceless what we built in this game they never wanted to give us our flowers we influenced the world…I Love you Take you still here with us I just know you are!!!! Migo 4Life!!!!!!”
Police arrested Takeoff’s alleged shooter, Patrick Xavier Clark, in December of 2022. Clark has so far maintained his innocence, his attorneys claiming he only fired his weapon in self defense and there is no way to know for sure whether his bullet is the one that killed Takeoff. Clark’s next court date is scheduled for early 2024, meaning that it is likely the trial will not begin until the second half of 2024.
