NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2020

This Friday, the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend begins. For many, the Slam Dunk Contest is a highlight of the weekend. For the first time since 1988, the event will take place in Chicago. The last time this happened, the Bulls’ Michael Jordan famously outmatched the Atlanta Hawks’ Dominique Wilkins to win his second consecutive Slam Dunk title. A mainstay of All-Star Saturday, the Slam Dunk Contest accompanies an array of other performances and gives many players an opportunity to flex and show off their skills. Saturday night will feature the Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, and Slam Dunk Contest, not to mention a live musical performance from Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, a.k.a Dame D.O.L.L.A. Last year showcased some very impressive gravity-defying skills, in which the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Hamidou Diallo was the undisputed winner, partially because of an impressive “elbow in the rim” slam, including a leap over legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Orlando’s Aaron Gordon is predicted to be the contest favorite.
