After recovering from her stay in the intensive care unit at the beginning of the summer, Madonna is back to prepping for her Celebration Tour, where she hopes her long-time friend Britney Spears will join her.
The pop star pair have been friends for many years, with Madonna even attending Britney’s wedding to Sam Asghari in June of last year and performing a duet with the bride. While now planning her Celebration Tour, which was postponed due to her medical condition, Madonna has invited Britney to perform with her in Los Angeles at one of her 5 tour dates next March.
A source close to Madonna told reporters that “Madonna originally wanted Britney to join her on tour this year. Everything was pushed back because of her illness, but she still wants Britney to join her at the Kia Forum.” Madonna believes the pair reuniting on stage would be even more meaningful this time as their hit collaborate “Me Against the Music” would reach its 20th anniversary before their performance.
The last time the two hit the stage together was in 2008 for Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour. Britney has not performed live since 2018, but last week she announced her plans for a new album following her recent divorce from Sam Asghari. No information has been released whether or not Britney has responded to Madonna’s invitation to the Celebration Tour, but with the friendship the two have it seems unlikely that Spears would say no.
A source told reporters that “Madonna’s entire tour crew are heading to London in the last week of September to start rehearsing” for the greatest-hits tour to begin on October 14th. Fans will just have to wait and see if Britney will be joining her in LA next March.
