Jay-Z’s Birthday: 54 Candles & 19 Platinum Surprises

This Monday Jay-Z celebrated his 54th birthday, and the greatest gift he got was from the RIAA with 19 new gold and platinum plaques.

Many of Jay-Z’s older works have recently gone gold, some being over twenty years old. Tracks like “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “Encore,” and “Lucifer,” along with others, earned Jay-Z some of his newest gold plaques. Other Jay-Z hits like “IZZO (H.O.V.A.),” “Holy Grail,” and “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” featuring Beyoncé all earned fresh platinum plaques, along with others.

Roc Nation took to X to congratulate their founder with a tributary video, which compiled a snippet of each song that earned a recent plaque. The video catalogs each track alongside their newly earned gold or platinum plaque. The tracks that went gold are: “Encore,” “Oceans,” “Lost One,” “Lucifer,” “Bam,” “Girls, Girls, Girls,” “PSA (Interlude),” “D.O.A (Death of Auto- Tune),” “Heart of the City,” and “Family Feud.”

The tracks that went platinum are: “Big Pimpin’” (3x platinum), “IZZO (H.O.V.A.),” “The Story of O.J.,” “On To The Next One,” “Part II (On The Run),” “4:44,” “Holy Grail” (5x platinum), “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” and “Young Forever” (3x platinum).

Since the auctioning of the “Book of HOV” exhibit trophy case just a few weeks ago, fans have been speculating whether or not the iconic New York rapper intends to make another album. The trophy case had 14 slots, 13 holding a limited-edition Brooklyn Public Library card that corresponded to each of Jay-Z’s 13 albums. However the 14th slot in the case was left blank, and sits at the end of the case, after his most recent ‘4:44’ album. The blank space has been leading fans to believe another album may be in the works.

With all of these new RIAA Certifications, maybe Jay-Z will be feeling inspired to work on his rumored next album.
