Hot Since 82 Brings the Heat at Gin Ling Way
Hot Since 82 and Framework did it again this summer. On Saturday, July 26, Framework and the UK house heavyweight transformed Chinatown’s Gin Ling Way into the sickest club in town.
Tucked just east of downtown, Gin Ling Way has been the heart of LA’s “New Chinatown” since 1938. The alleyway was built as part of the neighborhood’s rebirth after Old Chinatown was razed to make way for Union Station.
Under its glowing neon gates, you’ll find colorful storefronts, hanging lanterns, and the famous Wishing Well, inspired by Guangdong’s Seven-Star Caverns, that visitors still toss coins into for good luck. By day it’s a slice of LA history; but by night, it’s an exciting music venue, and with Framework’s help, it was Hot Since 82’s playground.

Framework once again proved why they sit at the top of LA nightlife. This one carried extra weight. Hot Since 82 had to cancel last summer due to passport issues, so the crowd was twice as excited this year. From the moment you cleared the heavy security gauntlet, it was clear no detail was overlooked. Bars flanked the space, a canopy stretched over the entire plaza, and massive disco balls glimmered above the alley like constellations. And of course, the Disco Shark was in attendance.
British DJ, producer, and label owner, Daley Padley, aka Hot Since 82, is a true global mega star. From his early days spinning in local Yorkshire clubs in 1999, to getting his first Ibiza residency at Amnesia in 2006, he’s cemented his name in house music’s history and beyond. With three albums and countless singles and EPs to his name, his catalog runs deep. He’s performed at clubs and festivals all over the world, including Los Angeles, but he’s never played Gin Ling Way… until now!

That night, a nearly century-old walkway watched over by neon dragons, was reborn as a futuristic dance hall. Hot Since 82 delivered a set only he could: a 6-hour transcendent, tech-house journey from open to close featuring some of his best hits, timeless gems, and unreleased gold. The crowd grooved with pure delight.
Framework deserves credit for more than just the booking. Their talent is in transforming LA’s overlooked spaces, warehouses, alleys, cultural landmarks into unforgettable venues. Gin Ling Way, already rich with history, felt alive in a whole new way.
