This week, fans have been less than enthused with the results of The Game’s merchandise sweepstakes, claiming the sweepstakes was a scam after a fan reported being sent a cheap hoodie in place of The Game’s merchandise that was ordered.
Last month, The Game announced to his followers that any purchase of his new LA merchandise would enter the fan into a sweepstakes to win a new car. Upon purchasing an $80 LA hoodie from The Game’s website, the fan was waiting in anticipation. However, after receiving a package in the mail this week, the fan took to Reddit to expose the incident.
The fan wrote a post to Reddit to expose the merchandise they received. The post explained the entire situation, saying: “The Game put out a post about a month or so ago promoting some new LA merch and that buying any of it would enter you into a giveaway for a car. It included a dope hoodie that I wanted . . . My package arrived yesterday and I got what’s pictured above. A bunch of like Japanese writing and a ‘Leopard Women’s Hoody’ . . . There is a message on the website about how they won’t issue any refunds for any sales no matter what because they ‘don’t want to tamper with the sweepstakes.’ Next level low.”
This fan also relayed getting an email from The Game’s merchandise store saying that the hoodie they had ordered was sold out, but they would receive compensation. They later received another email from the merchandise team saying that the order including the hoodie they selected had been shipped. The fan says that the actual hoodie listed on the merchandise site is still there and does not reflect anything being sold out.
There don’t seem to be many other reports of this happening to other fans, but others on Reddit have commented sharing their disappointment in The Game. One Reddit user commented saying: “How broke do you have to be to run a scam on your own fans? Like $80 isn’t a big spend for a hoodie but still. He was legitimately one of my all time favorite artists I think his first three albums are classics. Just sad to see.” Other commenters told the fan to “DM this to 50 [Cent],” hoping that 50 would repost it because of his long-standing beef with The Game.
