Despite her most recent album being released over 7 years ago, Rihanna has become the first female artist with 10 songs that have reached 1 billion streams on Spotify.
Over the weekend Rihanna took to Instagram to share the news with her fans. The caption read: “Bad gal billi … / wit no new album… / lemme talk my shit.” This news likely hasn’t shocked too many people, as her most recent performance at the Super Bowl Halftime show attracted more viewers than the Super Bowl game itself.
As of late, the renowned singer has been focusing on her ventures outside of the music world with Fenty’s beauty/skin lines as well as her Savage x Fenty collection. Recently, she has been a part of Pharrell’s new campaign for Louis Vuitton, modeling for the new creative director as well as attending the debut Fashion Week show in Paris. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have also recently been seen in Barbados, filming a music video for A$AP.
Rihanna’s music has had a lasting impact in the industry; as shown by her being the first female artist to hit 1 billion Spotify streams on 10 songs. Fans have been waiting and hoping to hear news of a new album coming from Rihanna. But with this news being announced with no hint of a new project coming, we can only assume fans will be waiting a while longer.
