Universal Studios recently called upon one of the greatest street artists to pay homage to five of their historic movie monsters. Tristan Eaton recently finished the 50×200 foot wall featuring Dracula, The Bride of Frankenstein, Frankenstein, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Wolf Man.

Film chairman Donna Langley says Universal’s monsters “were the outsiders, outcasts, rebels and outlaws of their time.” She states how fitting it is to have a graffiti artist re-create the monsters “because graffiti artists are considered the rebel outlaws of the art world.”

Growing up and fantasizing about being in a monster movie, this was much of a dream job for Eaton. He searched through Universal’s North Hollywood archives to study props and posters from the 1930’s and beyond to get inspiration for the mural. He was particularly drawn to the European posters whose art differed greatly from the films.

Starting in mid-January, Eaton spent about a month working on the mural from sunrise to sunset. Seeing him create something so massive with nothing but a shit ton of spray paint cans is nothing short of amazing.
