Grammy Award-winning artist, and long-time Gucci supporter, Billie Eilish has finally partnered with Gucci for her first collaboration collection.
Eilish is commonly seen sporting Gucci outfits and accessories – from walking on the street, to performing, to walking the red carpet. This partnership will be her first with the luxury brand, and aims for sustainability and innovation of classic styles and designs.
Since Sabato De Sarno has stepped into the Creative Director role at Gucci, the House began getting back to it roots. They recently re-released their Horsebit 1053 loafers to celebrate their 70th anniversary, which included Paul Mescal and Xiao Zhan as ambassadors. Since then, they have decided to begin reimagining their Horsebit 1955 bag.
Enter Billie Eilish. Billie Eilish is no stranger to the fashion world, previously having collaborated with Nike, H&M, and more. A key component to all of Eilish’s collaborations is improved sustainability. With Gucci’s Horsebit 1955 bag, Eilish has reincarnated the asymmetrical design with animal-free Demetra fabrics instead of animal-made leather. In order to make this change possible, Gucci artisans in Italy have gone through a 2-year production process of creating Demetra.
The campaign photos show Eilish, cinematically captured and proudly sporting the newly innovated Horsebit 1955 bag. The images show the bag offered in two different styles. One option is black Demetra, with a chained strap and sleek look; the other is brown with the iconic Gucci monogram and a solid brown Demetra strap. Both variations of course include the traditional staple of the bag, the metal horsebit, on the front of the bag.
The reimagined Gucci Horsebit 1955 bag is available now on Gucci’s website.
