On this special edition of ‘Street Talk,’ JJ Anderson meets with several representatives of the lowrider community in Los Angeles, CA to get the run down on exactly what it means to be a lowrider today. In association with the lowrider community and other notable car club names, such as “Super Natural Lowriders” and “Do Sumthin Car Club,” members speak on celebrating car culture and lowrider lifestyle. Though low riding has been under recent controversy, due to its past gang and drug affiliations, its community members dismantle these stereotypes and prove that lowriders not only provide mutual support and community service but also brings a sense of belonging through common interest. In this segment of ‘Street Talk’ JJ sits down with Tina of “Super Natural Car Club,” Kesha of “Do Sumthin Car Club” and father son duo/owners of “Double D’s Autocare Derrick” and Big Joe. The four of them talk about what attracted them to the culture, some of the associated stereotypes, and the positive aspects sometimes overlooked.
We’ve had site contributors and collaborators, editorial interns and writers, but for the first time ever we’re featuring our first video columnist. Already a YouTube notable, JJ Anderson is our first ever on-the-street documentarian, taking footage of some of L.A.’s greatest and wackiest, featuring elements of weed life, street life, and so much more. JJ has worked alongside a variety of personalities like Evander Holyfield, Danny Trejo, and Ronda Rousey and continues to follow her knack in producing, hosting, and editing alongside friend and partner Tito Molina.
