Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a camgirl? Being the internet-savvy cultural mavens that we are here at FRANK151, we collectively answered “yes” to that question when we asked it of ourselves one day in a meeting. Luckily for us, we didn’t have to travel very far outside of our social circles to get some answers. Enter Lindsay Dye.

Lindsay Dye is a woman with many dimensions. She’s an artist, a feminist, and yes, a camgirl. As you’ll find out soon enough, she’s also a talented mathematician who likes Fetty Wap (we think) and has a razor-sharp sense of humor. Given this wide-array of life experiences, we’ve asked Lindsay Dye to answer questions from you, the reader, about being a camgirl.

All of the questions you’re about to see were submitted by real-live people. If you have a burning question you’d like to ask Lindsay, slide into our DMs. Find Lindsay online here, here, and here.

What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
I don’t really venture out of the realm of Carvel cakes and Hostess pre-packaged items. Klondike’s are not out of the question. A cake-sitting-show featuring a Carvel Lil’ Love Ice Cream Cake 25 oz ranges from 3,000-5,000 tokens* because of the upscale brand and cake density (since we’re talking ice cream and not buttercream).

It’s a fun train of thought I go through staring at the freezers in Duane Reade, figuring out how much I would profit off of buying a $9.98 cake. Let’s walk through the process if I were to consider a Klondike Bar Show.

That’s what I’d do for a Klondike bar, fool.

How much money do you make on average per month?
I don’t mind answering questions about my income because I feel like people are misguided about how much Camgirls make.

My daily goal is 5,000 tokens*. I can make that in five minutes. But guess what, it might also take me five hours. But guess what, I might also not make it at all.

How many days I cam a month depends on how many Raya dates I have (jk I’m on the “waitlist”), if I’m preparing for an exhibition or at a residency, and if I’m going to a Fetty Wap concert or not.

There are plenty of other factors that go into how much money I’m able to make.

The month. My most lucrative months have been April and May (I hypothesize because of tax returns) as well as September and January (again I hypothesize because of student loan refunds).

The day. Friday’s and Saturday’s are always lit along with the 2nd and 16th of every month, the days after payday.

The time of day + time zone. Know your time zones. All Americans stay up late but if you’re going to be camming at 3am pacific time, just know you’re probably going to be interacting with someone in China. I’m in New York City, but Englishmen tip me well, so I try to sign on around 5am eastern.

Content. To make the big money, you have to do more than just live camming, you have to produce content: videos, photo collections, Skype dates, gift baskets, raffling off your old iPad with all your nudes on it, etc.

What’s the largest donation you’ve ever received?
Not including side-gifting like, PayPal, Snapcash, Venmo, Amazon Gift Cards—my top 3 tippers of all time have cumulatively tipped me over 100,000 tokens*. Career Camgirls can make that in a week.

As a feminist how do you handle individuals with a machismo attitude?

I’m really curious about the process of becoming a Camgirl. How do you moderate a chatroom? I’m a very anxious person and I’m wondering how to keep people interested and involved.

Has there been an Amazon Wishlist gift you’ve refused? Why?
I’ve never refused a gift but of course I’ve been disappointed. Opening that royal blue wrapping paper with that dijon-mustard yellow ribbon, hoping to find color ink cartridges or lube—alas, IRIS Open Top Litter Box with Shield and Scoop and Hinterland Trading Air Plant Tillandsia Food and Fertilizer.

When you cam, does it show a side of you that most people don’t see IRL?
I’m much bolder on camera, I suppose because of the lack of a physical audience. The surprise is that spending more time camming has made me a more solid woman IRL. I am more vocal and discerning. However, there’s a drawback that comes along with feeling powerful. The visual assault of erotic imagery online has left me a bit sexually uninspired in person.
